Farewell to the scarecrows…

Farewell to the scarecrows…

Many thanks to everyone who took part in this year’s Scarecrow Trail, and we hope you had a lot of fun going around ticking off all the brilliant creations you could find. The weather could have been kinder in the first week, but the soggy scarecrows stayed standing in spite of all the torrential rain and gale-force winds. Some even had their own rainwear! Brandon and Owen (6) from Coombe Dingle made the most of the last few days of the school holidays: “We had a great time exploring the neighborhood – we went out on three different days to…

Scarecrows are go!

Children and adults alike have had great fun making Scarecrows for the Sea Mills and Coombe Dingle Scarecrow trail. Even more have been able to get out to enjoy seeing them. It's been lovely to see so many people with their trail maps, ticking off the scarecrows and planning to see them all. There's a dinosaur, a unicorn, Harry Potter, one standing on his head and other sitting on a roof! Some people have worked with neighbours to make their scarecrows and it's really brought the community together. The trail runs until 6th September 2020 and there are scarecrows at…

Postcards from lockdown – voices of young people

Are the voices of children and young people being heard in the current crisis? We would love to hear what children and young people think and also how you are feeling. Be part of history and maybe even change it by helping older people understand your feelings. Send Sea Mills 100 a postcard with your thoughts and feelings during the current situation. Tell older people what YOU think. These will be displayed around Sea Mills and Coombe Dingle for people to read, including the Sea Mills phone box museum, community noticeboards, and anywhere else we can get access too. They…

Marking VE Day 75th Anniversary

Marking VE Day 75th Anniversary

Whilst many plans for marking the 75th Anniversary of VE Day have had to be cancelled due to the lockdown, @SeaMills100 is tweeting a series of short wartime stories and photos from Sea Mills and Coombe Dingle every day in the lead up to the VE Day 75th anniversary. The tweets complement the war stories webpage recently published by Sea Mills 100 to mark the 75 years since the end of World War Two and 75 years of peacetime. Well worth a visit to get an insight into our neighbourhood from back then. Thank you Sea Mills 100 for putting…
